Editorial
50 members and guests attended the Summer Lunch. Everybody agreed that the food was excellent and the location in the marquee gave a more spacious effect. Thanks to Carole for organising a very pleasant event.
For those members attending the Rhine in Flames and/or the trip to Powis Castle and the W&L Railway, please see the additional information later in this Newsletter, in particular the departure times from IBM Warwick.
Your Committee are currently in the throes of organising our calendar of events for 2006. Several members have offered worthwhile suggestions - if you would like to suggest an event, please get in touch with any Committee member. E-mails or phone calls to yours truly will be helpful as I can then collate the responses.
We have booked tickets for Gilbert and Sullivan's 'Mikado' in Malvern on 5th October. See the details further in this Newsletter and get your booking form off to Terry King to make sure of a place. Please note that this is an 'own transport' event - the Committee considered using a coach but it was felt that members may like to have a day out in what is a very pleasant part of the country.
You will also see the announcement, together with a booking form, for our trip into cider country on the 12th October, together with a booking form. There is more to cider than may be obvious and this is an excellent opportunity to check out the less well known varieties.

Just a few final notes:-
1. The coach will leave from the top car park at IBM Warwick (nearest the main entrance) at 08:00.
2. You should all have received your Group Travel itinerary. There are two corrections. Firstly, there will be no dinner at the hotel on Saturday night as we will be on the boat (there will be food and drink for sale on the boat). Secondly, the cost of the wine tasting has already been included in the holiday.
3. If at any time you decide you do not want to join any of the organised activities, please let me know so that we do not keep the whole coach waiting.
4. If you have any problems travelling to IBM Warwick on the day of departure, please call me on my mobile - 0777-3695410.

Hereford Cider Trail - 12th October 2005 (provisional date)
Assuming that we get sufficient numbers, it is intended to run a trip to the Hereford cider country on Wednesday 12th. October. We will aim to leave Warwick around 09.00 and travel by a small coach to Big Apple Country around Ledbury. During the day we will visit Westons Cider in Much Marcle to see, in a large scale production facility, how cider is produced followed by a tasting of their wares.
We will also aim to visit two small scale producers, hopefully Greggs Pit and Broome Farm, both of which produce award-winning cider and perry. As well as seeing the actual presssings, we will of course be sampling the produce of their labours. Broome Farm is particularly interesting. having a large variety of ciders which are matured in old whisky, brandy, sherry and rum casks.
Time will be found to fit in a pub lunch, which will be subsidised by around £5.00 per head, and we will aim to be back in Warwick late afternoon.
The charge will be £10.00 per member and first guest, £20.00 for second and subsequent guests, to include an allowance of £5.00 towards lunch, entrance to Westons Cider, all the tastings, and the travel to and from Warwick.
Will interested parties please contact Rick Paslawski using the booking form, and enclosing a cheque for the appropriate amount. Please note that cheques will only be presented after the event has taken place, and if we do not reach the sufficient number of members required to make the event feasible, notice of cancellation will be given and all cheques received will be destroyed
