Our Summer Lunch at The Oak in Hockley Heath was a great success. 52 members and guests attended and I didn't hear a single negative comment from anybody! Well done Carole, the location, food and of course the company were all excellent.
The weather held fine for our trip to Sezincote (house and gardens) and Bourton House (gardens only) and all agreed that these were well worth visiting. Opposite the entrance to Sezincote is the entrance to the Bourton Garden Centre and Arboretum - several members enjoyed lunch at the garden centre and I understand the Arboretum is well worth a visit. Many thanks to Alan Palmer for organising this one.

Also mentioned in the Chairman's jotting is the prospect of a possible trip in 2010. We have been given the opportunity of taking up places on a trip to Oberammergau in August 2010. Most of you will know that this is a once in ten year event - see details in this Newsletter.

CHAIRMAN'S JOTTINGS
The committee has just emerged battered and bruised from a day long planning meeting at which we put together what we believe to be an interesting and varied programme for 2010. To help Carole Robertson (no mean warrior herself) put the case for the fairer sex, we were joined by Anne Hope and Sandra Holme. Though a few "boys' toys" events got cast aside as a result, we all thank them. In fact we had to put about twice as many events on the wait list as we managed to squeeze into the programme. It will be published shortly, so get your 2010 diaries at the ready!
We felt that some new or intending retiree members would appreciate a pictorial review of some of our events, so we are trialling a Photo Section. You can view it, in its trial form, at http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/parkingbay/ . The url might change as we move to "production" so please use the Newsletter as your route in so you pick up the correct pages. We hope to be able to add a few pictures of each event as time goes by.
In this Newsletter, you will see a pre-announcement of an exciting 2010 trip; take a look - you only get the chance every 10 years!
We happy to be able to announce that, largely as a result of Ken Hope's work, prior associates are now full members. As one of those myself, I really know how good it is to finally be legitimate!
As ever, committee members stand ready to take your input, to try to sort out any problems and to shape up the programme so it fits more needs.
Finally, there is, of course, still time to participate in events this year. It would be good to see some more of you especially at the Christmas Lunch at Honiley Court on December 17th.

Oberammergau August 2010
We have been offered places on this trip and your Committee felt that we should offer the opportunity to our members as even now most companies are fully booked. Details are as follows:-
Sunday 15th August Depart for Dover for the crossing to France and continue to your overnight stop with dinner, bed and cold buffet breakfast included.
Monday 16th August Continue into Germany, arriving Oberammergau late afternoon, checking into your guest accomodation for two nights full board.
Tuesday 17th August Morning at leisure in Oberammergau before enjoying an included hot lunch before the play starts at 2:30 pm, continuing until 5:30 pm when there will be an interval for an included dinner before part 2 of the play at 8:00 pm which will finish at 10:30.
Wednesday 18th August Commence the return journey, arriving at your overnight hotel ealry evening with dinner, bed and cold buffet breakfast included.
Thursday 19th August Continue to Calais for the crossoing to Dover, arriving back early evening.
The cost will be no more than £695 per person. Insurance can be provided by the coach company should you not have your own.
If you are interested, please contact Dave Compton as soon as possible and you will be asked for a deposit of £50 per person.
