July 2006 Newsletter
Editorial
There was good weather for the Air Show at Cosford - always helps on these occasions - and thanks to Gordon for making it all happen! You may remember that I put a note in the June Newsletter regarding a possible visit to the site where the Vulcan bomber group are working - Gordon is trying to arrange a date to include a visit to the Vulcan site and a pub lunch - more news as soon as we know.
46 members and guests attended our Summer Lunch. Thanks to Carole for her efforts, particularly as she was let down by the establishemt where we had originally planned to go.

Don't forget our trip to Shrewbury Flower Show on 11th August and get your booking form to John Stanley if you haven't already done so - there are only a couple of seats available on the coach at the time of writing. Those who have been before know that it is a good day out and I remember going some years ago and being rather impressed by the vegetables on display - do parsnips grow that big, I wondered!

Tyntesfield - National Trust. Tuesday 12th September 2006 (Organiser - Ray Castle)
Tyntesfield, just south of Bristol, is in The National Trust's own words a 'Spectacular Victorian country house and estate'. It will be familiar to many of you from the many television programmes that have been broadcast since NT's acquisition of the property in 2002. Although much work has been done, facilities are still rather basic at Tyntesfield and there are many steps and slopes on the property that may cause difficulties for visitors with limited mobility. The distance to the house from the coach park is just over half a mile. The itinerary is as follows:-
We will leave IBM Warwick at 9.00am and with a comfort break en-route plan to be at The Walton Park Hotel, Clevedon, for lunch by mid-day. Our allocated arrival time at Tyntesfield is 1.45pm, so will have ample time to explore the hotel's cliff top gardens and enjoy a leisurely buffet lunch with desert. The main bar will be open for us but the cost of drinks is not included in the price of this special package. We will depart for our return journey at 5pm and hope to be back in Warwick around 7.30pm.
The cost for the day is £16.50 per person, members and first guests only. National Trust Members have free access to the house, chapel and garden, so, PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR MEMBERSHIP CARDS WITH YOU ON THE DAY. The additional cost of entry for non-members will be £9.00. Do not send this with your booking; this will be collected from you on arrival on the day.
We expect a heavy demand for this trip so please get your booking forms and payment to Ray as soon as possible, unless previously sold out the cut-off date for bookings will be Friday 18th August.
If you have any problems on the day which may delay your arrival at the departure point, the phone contact for Ray Castle is 07970 663353.

2007 Events
The Committee are having the annual planning meeting at the end of August. We hope that what we come up with will meet with the approval of members. You will note that we have made a few changes of emphasis in the last couple of years - for example, we have had fewer days out and more long weekends and judging by response, this has been successful.
So, whilst we have made some changes, it may be worth repeating certain past events (after a reasonable interval perhaps) and the visit to the Shrewsbury Flower Show is a good example. What about a return to the Eden Project or Chatsworth House?
We have already had some comments about what we might (or might not) do in 2007 so if you would like to make any (constructive) suggestions please contact our Chaiman Ray Castle by phone on 01789-751228 or by email at ray@boxacre.freeserve.co.uk .
