Our thanks are due to Gordon Jones for organising a most enjoyable event at the Sporting Manor. If you like a weekend with lots of interesting activities in good company this is the place to be. Perhaps we should do it again sometime.

This month we have our Annual General Meeting. As far as I know, we should be having quite a good attendance from our members so there should be our usual lively (and hopefully constructive) debate.

Chartwell and Gardens of Kent - 20th to 22nd April 2007 (organiser Carole Robertson)

We still have a few places left on this trip. If you would like to take part in what should prove to be a most interesting weekend, please contact the organiser as soon as possible. Full details appeared in the February Newsletter but the salient points are repeated below.

The gardens to view include Hughenden Manor at High Wycombe - Benjamin Disraeli lived here from 1848 until his death in 1881. Sissinghurst Castle Garden, more traditional but beautiful and if time permits Tenterden [home of Pop Larkin's "Darling Buds of May"]. Finally, on Sunday to the home of Sir Winston Churchill, Chartwell, to view the house, gardens and studio, showing many of his paintings.

We plan to depart from Warwick at 9.30 on Friday 20th and return early evening Sunday 22nd.

Member and first guest cost per person £110, second guest £135 per person. Based on two sharing a twin room with en suite. Single room supplement £40 [4 max].

If you require travel insurance please add £6.30 per person, if you carry Annual Travel Insurance please give details on the booking form.

Please remember to bring your National Trust membership card with you. Admissions for non- National Trust members £30.

Isle of Man 14-18 May 2007 (organiser - John Smith)

The balance payment for the Isle of Man holiday is now due. We need to send the money to the Coach company on the 1st April. Please send a cheque for £230 per person (i.e. £460 per couple) to the address below, making the cheque payable to IBM Retirees Club (Midlands).

2007 Events

After some thought as to the best venue for the Summer Lunch, we have settled on "The Gate Hangs High" at Hook Norton. Those who went on the trip to Hook Norton last year will remember that we had an excellent lunch there after our visit to the brewery. The date is Wednesday 20th June - full details and booking form will be in the April Newsletter.

The PC and Technology Group are planning a trip to Bletchley Park to have a look at (and maybe operate) the famous Enigma machine which was such a key element in World War 2. Bletchley Park has various other attractions, not least the house itself. Sometime in October is planned - details willl be announced as soon as arrangements are finalised.
