November 2009 Newsletter
Editorial
Our skittles evening at Snitterfield was enjoyed by all attendees and several people suggested we could do it again some time. Many thanks to Peter Barnes for a very enjoyable evening and we asked him to give a special thank you to the Snitterfield staff for an excellent hot buffet.
And last but certainly not least for this year we have the Christmas Lunch on 17th December. The announcement and booking form appeared in the October Newsletter - if you haven't yet booked, click here for booking form which must be in the organiser's hand by 1st December not as stated, by mistake, previously, so that final arrangements can be made with the restaurant. Please note that we can accommodate second guests for whom the price will be £30 per head.
--------------------------------------------------
Your Committee are finalising the 2010 calendar and details will be announced at the Christmas Lunch and also in the December Newsletter. We have quite a range of events and hope you will be able to attend some of them. If you think we have missed something, please don't hestitate to let us know - your feedback is listened to but sometimes we can't squeeze everything in that you might like.
To start us off, Dave Compton has arranged a Chinese meal at the popular Emperors Restaurant in Leamington. If you wish to go, please get your booking form to Dave by 31st December please. Also, see the details of the proposed trip to the west of Scotland which Tony and Simon are organising - Tony tells me that there has been a lot of interest even at this early date so get your bid in now.
Dave Compton has been busy and is proposing a Royal Day Out - see item later in this Newsletter. We have been to Buckingham Palace before but not for some time and this should satisfy the requests which have been made for a repeat visit.
--------------------------------------------------
I have re-arranged and updated the links at the end of the Newsletter and I hope members will find them more informative and useful as a reference. Please take a little time to look through the links and let me know if you have any comments. In particular, you may find the Bedfont Lakes link of use if you are jetting off to foreign parts.

Newman Street Reunion
The annual Christmas Newman Street reunion will take place on Friday 4th December from midday. Unfortunately, the Cambridge turned into a Chinese restaurant a few years ago so the meeting place has move to the One Tun, Mortimer Street, (just opposite). No need to book, just turn up and hope you recognise somebody. Food is available at the One Tun and those still standing often retire to the Spaghetti House, possibly returning to the One Tun for a final one-for-the-road.

A Royal Day Out
It is proposed to have a day trip to London by coach to visit the State Rooms at Buckingham Palace; the Royal Mews; and the Queens Collection. The most likely date is Wednesday 15th September 2010. The combined visit will take about 5-6 hours, including a break for lunch, and will involve a fair amount of walking although there are facilities for wheelchairs if booked in advance. However, as we will need to purchase tickets well ahead, please could you send an expression of interest to Dave Compton (Dave@Compton-family.eu ) stating how many places you would want. Although there is no commitment at this stage, and it may be possible to accommodate second guests, tickets will be purchased based on the level of interest shown, so please respond as soon as possible.
