October 2013 Newsletter

As we reach the end of the year, we have only a very brief newsletter this month. See below for the final details and booking form for the Christmas Lunch to be held at Wroxall Abbey on Tuesday 17th December. At the lunch you can expect to get details of next year’s programme as usual.

Michael Fabianski, Newsletter Editor. E-mail: ibmmidretnews@gmail.com

28 people travelled to Paris in September for a long weekend, with a full day visit to the Palace of Versailles and a half day at Monet’s Garden. The weather was near perfect with warm sunshine and clear skies most of the time. We also had two excellent meals in local restaurants; a boat trip along the Seine; an evening tour of the lights; and free time to explore some of the other sights. Many favourable comments have been received and we did succeed in pleasing most of the people most of the time.

Advance notice

Although our 2014 calendar of events has yet to be published, we are hoping to make a return visit towards the end of January to the Lebanese Restaurant in Warwick for our ‘ethnic’ meal. As bookings will need to be taken before Christmas, watch out in the next Newsletter for an announcement and booking form.

Sub-Groups of IBM Club and Retirees Club

IBM Retirees PC and Technology Group (founded by Harry Green)

The IBM Retirees PC and Technology Group meets every alternate month for a lively discussion on PC and technology topics in the digital age. There are usually one or two specific presentations given by members or by outside speakers, which the members of the Group have requested. We try to provide a reasonable balance between PC “techie” topics, new technology, and topics of a more general nature such as digital television, Internet telephony and digital photography. So whether you are a newcomer to the PC or a more experienced user, we hope you will find something of interest. You are very welcome to join us.
