Following previous years’ popular visits to Pete’s Place we are repeating the event this year; please get your booking forms into Gary Wooding as soon as possible.
Following the cancellation of the Combined Ramblers and Sightseeing trip, there will be a largely self-organise trip to the Lake District from 2nd to 6th June. See below for more information.
We are proposing to have a visit to Bath in September. This would be a coach from Warwick arriving in Bath late morning with free time for lunch, then in the afternoon a guided tour of Bath for about two hours, before returning to Warwick See below for more information.
The Northamptonshire Gardens visit is now fully booked but we will maintain a waiting list if further members are interested; contact Christine Bradshaw if you would like to be place on the list.

E1905PPL: Pete’s Place Thursday 30 May 2019 (Organiser Gary Wooding)
I am pleased to announce that we are again organising a visit to Pete’s Place, a beautiful 20 acre private park with a lake, a small wood, and a ride-on miniature railway. There is an “African Queen” type of steam boat giving rides around the lake in which there is a small island. The miniature railway which surrounds the lake and circles the wood is almost a mile long and is considered to be one of the finest private ones in the country. There is ample free parking for all cars.
All rides are totally free. Pete, the owner, provides all this totally free of charge; all the Retirees Club asks is that you make a donation of £10 per car to Pete’s favourite charity — the Air Ambulance.
Please ensure that you include your car’s registration number on the booking form.
This event is not restricted to Retiree Club members — tell your friends and the rest of your family, get as many people as you like in your car, it’s still only £10 per car.
Get there in the morning after about 11:30 and stay all day, bring a picnic and use the barbeques that are freely available. It’s a day out you will remember — I promise. The grand children will love it.

Lake District, 2-6 June 2019 Organiser: John Rickman
There is a Retirees Club self-drive and largely self-organise trip from 2nd June to 6th June based on the village of Boot in Eskdale.
There will be walks and lots of opportunity to explore the most dramatically scenic area in England.
Accommodation is limited, but rooms are available at around £100 pounds a night.

To help maximise the number of people attending I am having an indicative vote on four possible dates when we could run the visit!

This is only an expression of interest, and based on the results we will choose a date which best matches preferences and include a booking form in a subsequent Newsletter.

The IBM Retirees PC and Technology Group meets every alternate month for a lively discussion on PC and technology topics in the digital age. There are usually one or two specific presentations given by members or by outside speakers, which the members of the Group have requested. We try to provide a reasonable balance between PC “techie” topics, new technology, and topics of a more general nature such as digital television, Internet telephony and digital photography. So whether you are a newcomer to the PC or a more experienced user, we hope you will find something of interest. You are very welcome to join us.
