Event Reports

Event Report: E2108PPL: Pete’s Place Thursday 26th August 2021

Against all the odds, this event managed to avoid the recent appalling weather. Despite just emerging from lockdown, a goodly number of guests enjoyed picnics in the beautiful grounds and had rides on the steamboat and the many trains that circled the lake and threaded their way through the woods. I am pleased to report that the donations received raised £195.00 for the Air Ambulance, just £5 less than the 2019 event.

The View Restaurant, Hill Farm Marina, Stratford Road, Wooton Wawen, B956DE. It is located just south of Wooton Wawen and down a wide track which also leads to the canal marina. There is good free car parking there.

The main walk is 6.6 miles and there are other good walks of 3.7 and 2.1 miles.

Full details of the walks can be downloaded from the website -

The website also shows the lunch menu.

Please let Ray Bradbury ( know as soon as possible if you are coming on one of the walks and if you require lunch so he can book seating in the restaurant. If the weather is good we have the option of dining outside.

Those doing the shorter walks may like to start with a coffee first so that finishing times for the walks are not too different.

Please contact Terry King, for more information about the Rambling Group.

IBM Retirees Technology Group

The IBM Tech Club meets using the Zoom video conferencing platform at 11.00 on the third Friday of each month. The club is a place where you can talk to IBM folk about matters technical. For example, help or advice on buying or using computers, smart phones, touch pads; engineering, electronics, wifi, bluetooth, cryptography, bitcoin, using computers to making movies, songs or musical works, best software, streaming, the internet, photography, diy, and anything else about the modern world you would like to understand better.

Apart from the technical discussion we try to have a talk by a club member at each meeting. This depends very much on members volunteering to prepare and show something they are interested in.

At 11 o’clock on the day of the meeting click on the link below. It should take you straight into the meeting.

If you need help with Zoom contact John Rickman ( in good time before the meeting.
